Description

Sometimes at the end of a lengthy, tiring imaging session it can be quite relaxing to finish with a well known bright subject, which everyone knows and recognises.

So here is M106, a really nice big, bright and colourful galaxy in CVn. This one is pretty well known, being a Messier galaxy and has some interesting features. There is quite a lot of activity going on in the core and it's nice to able to resolve some core detail for a change.

This was a mere 26 minute's worth of exposure so I imagine there would be quite a lot more to be seen in a deeper image.
